GolfGPS Update

Version 1.2 of GolfGPS for Android is out.  I added Meters to the program for our International friends, and implemented the hazard distances, which should have been in the first go around.  As I was digging around in the code, I also found a few things that needed cleaned up, so it might even be faster now, who knows…

Check it out at the Project Page

  • added link to local forecast page from the National Weather Service based on your location
  • added option to start program without running loops
  • added GPS radio off when not in foreground (save battery)
  • fixed random crashing while looping images
  • more code cleanup, improved loading of images

read more about it on the Project page, update it in Market, or if you don’t have it yet, Buy it!

NWService Update now in the Market

I am working on an update to the NWService program, but I need feedback! If you have it, please post a comment here on this blog post, or in the forum (preferred).  I can’t make it work better with out the feedback, so PLEASE leave your thoughts!

GolfGPS Android Edition

Works with all courses made on the coursemaker, which means all the courses located here will work!  I haven’t tried it out on the course yet, but will this afternoon!  If all is good, look for it in the Market tomorrow!  This will be released Free of charge, and free of ads!  I might make a Pro version, but a free version will ALWAYS exist, and will ALWAYS be free of ads!

NWService is now on Market!

Check out the market for NWService.  Scan the bar code above, or go into market and search NWService or Gudensoft to find it.  Read more about the project here.

Thanks!

Coming Soon to a Market near you!

NWService 1.0

NWService uses the power of Google Maps for Android, and adds the best, most accurate radar on top of it, straight from the National Weather Service.  It is extremely light weight, wicked fast, and full of features.  Check out the project page to read more about it.

This should be in the Market by the end of next week.  I am fine tuning the Licensing code and have some more testing to run on it.  Also, this is the first app I will have in the Market, so I have to figure it all out as well!  Read more about the app at the project’s homepage, then if you have questions or ideas, post them in the forum.

Thanks

A taste of Android!

RadarLove Android Edition!

So I finally have had some time to play around in the Android SDK, and just playing around, started to see how difficult it would be to port RadarLove over to Android.  The SDK has some great libraries but I am nowhere near ready to release this yet.  Anyways, just wanted to show you what I am working on.

GolfGPS tops 2500 Courses!

The Golf GPS program for windows mobile has over 2500 courses now.  Of course, this does include some fake courses that people have made while trying out the system.  Reguardless, looking though the list, it has grown quite nicely!

On a side note, it looks like I will be leaving the Windows Mobile family for a while.  The new HTC Increadible is looking better and better every day I read about it, and it is coming to Verizon.  I haven’t played with Android all the much yet, but I like the openess of it, and the hardware of the HTC Increadible kills anything out there with Windows on it.  Windows 7 looks promising, but I don’t think I can wait that long.

Android apps are written in Java (mostly at least).  It’s been a few years since I have done anything in Java, but it has a simular feel to C#, I only wish I could code Java in Visual Studio!  Anyways, if I do go the Android route, I will be porting some of the programs to Android, starting with the GolfGPS.  It will have the same features, and maybe some new ones, and of course, the files created with the course mapper will all work with the Android app.  I am a cheapo, so I don’t think I will release it to the Marketplace, unless I can get some major donations to pay for it.  No matter what, I will assure you it will a Free app!  Of course, donations are always accepted!

Thanks!
