I have been writing code for over ten years.  Everything from mobile software, windows applications, Server apps, services and even games, all in a variety of languages.  Some of what I have written is worthless to everyone but whom it was written for.  Other stuff, well I don’t know, might have some use to people out there.  So I have been going through my old stuff, and am pulling out things I feel people might find useful or interesting and will release it on this site.

Right now I plan on MOST of it being released as closed source strict no-distribution donationware.  What this means is it will be free for non-commerical use, but you can’t copy it and give it out, you will just have to point them to this site.  There are somethings I have written that I feel belong open source, or use open source code, these will then be released under more permissive license.

Anyways, I hope you get something out of this, and if you have any questions, please contact me at support(at)gudensoft.com.

Is your IMAP idle service in any way related to this one here? http://www.aegisub.net/2008/12/if-programming-languages-were-religions.html

Can’t wait to try it out!

Sorry, but no, not currently. I have slowly been getting enough people to warrant adding the code necessary to read directly from the gps unit. Look for it in a future version.

Hey I was looking at other websites that have a golf gps which you can add to a phone, and I was wondering how difficult it would be to add a 3.d. flyover feature to your already wonderful program.

Hi, I just know your site and I downloaded GolfGPS. I created 2 fields, but the 2nd was 9-hole and it created, I put the flags of the false 10-18 and then I edited the file by copying the holes in 1-9 holes of the 10-18, but not like climbing the amendment and I have not found any where to send mail. If you give me an email you send or tell me how can I will upload when you use and check the data in the field. I hope your answer. When I try and will do the commentary and donate something to your website.
    Thank you.
P.D. Sorry for my English, I used a translator.

email is support@gudensoft.com Right now, you can’t upload to the site. I have been working on a script for that, but haven’t finished it yet. I want to check the data as it is uploaded so no spam gets added.

GOlf GPS…Great program. I have been using it very often and actually walked my range and put in all the markers. However just yesterday I went to open any course and got an error: File Format Incorrect or File Missing: FormatException. I tried to reload everything and that did not resolve the issue. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Gudy, GolfGPS is a graet program!
But a great problem are the regional settings. Most european countries use Decimal = “.” and List Seperator = “;”, but GolfGPS only works with english settings.
It’s not verry usefull to change settings on the PPC, because that affects all other programms!
So: would it be pssible, to make GolfGPS work with different settings ?!
    Greetings from Germany

  13. Jürgen (Germany) - October 7th, 2009

Correction: Most european countries (except GB) use:
    Decimal = “,” and List Seperator = “;”

  14. Gudy - October 7th, 2009

I can, but the problem is every course would need to be converted to a new format. I need to try and change the way I read the data in so that no matter the language setting, it reads it the way I want it to. Thanks for the suggestion, and I will look at it. It’s been a while since i have looked at GolfGPS, I think it is time to look at making some improvements, esp. since we now have tons of courses world wide!

    Hi Gudy,
I have downloaded the Golf_GPS Beta 3 but the program seems no able to recognize any built-in GPS or Bluetooth GPS module. I hit “Restart GPS” many times but the program would not active the built-in GPS or failed to recognized an already connected BT GPS module. Please help and reply to my e-mail address as well.

P.S. I have contributed three very popular golf courses in Shanghai area.

Thanks for the help, will donate when I can use this program.

have you considered a linux version of your golf application? i think it would be great on the nokia n810 and similar devices. thanks.

  18. Gudy - March 13th, 2010

I haven’t, as I don’t have a way to test on those devices. A while back, I remember reading about running .net programs on android, and if I recall correctly, Mono released a mobile version of their .net for linux (google “mono .net framework” if you are not familiar with it).

On a side note, my current contract is about up, and I am looking hard at Android!

just to let you know. I’ve finally got your program running on my nextar gps running ce5 with framework 3.5 with two exceptions .
1st- have to find a way to rotate the screen.
2nd- most important I lack the file gpsapi.dll to let windows find the com port.
can you help with either task?
if you want a list of the files i had to put with it to get to run I can e-mail the list.

  20. Gudy - March 24th, 2010

    1) screen rotation I might be able to help with (I can recompile a version for you).

    2) gpsapi.dll is a system library for windows mobile phones. Even if I give it to you (which I can’t, not legal) it wouldn’t work on your device. However, try and run the GPS Info program on this site, and let me know if you can get it to work. I used my own GPS library, which uses raw COM commands so it should work (don’t use Microsoft Driver). IF it does work, ie you can get a fix, then I will add that piece to the golf gps program.

I came across your post regarding your fantasy football passion. I have similar interests. In years past I have tracked down 15-20 different pre-season projections (free and $), averaged them out and based my draft upon those projections. The results of my draft all but guarantee me a top 3 finish. The difference between finishing first and third comes down to regular season management. The problem is that accumulating and dealing with all of the different formats of projections is taking me too long. Have you come across a meta site for projections? Ever thought of building a meta site for projections? Thanks,

    Hi Gudy,
i have downloaded your golf gps (windows mobile).
Now i have the problem, that the distances
from my course are wrong displayed
(the distances are > 5000000 meters)
    what can i do?

Thank you for your help and sorry for my bad english

  23. Gudy - March 29th, 2011

Hi Frank, I wish I could help, but I have no idea why your distances would be that way, unless you are that far away ;) Make sure the gps is working correctly, ie try a different program and a different course.

  24. wolfgang - February 2nd, 2012

    Hi Gudy,

Was about to install the golf gps for Android, and tried the course maker first. Ran into two “problems”: a) I mapped a 9 hole course, so “submit” does not work because it tells me to add the (non-existent) other 9 holes. B) The checkered flag is for a hazard – so what to do if that hole has NO hazard or more than one. Apart from that, would be desirable to mark the end of the hazard as well.
The gps-program itself sounds great, just to the function needed, no internet necessary – compliments!

Hi, I was using the golfgps wm version and love it, now trying to use it on android, samsung galaxy S. Somehow it does not allow me to choose the course from the course list. Is it compatible with galaxy S?
