RadarLove News
Just wanted to give a quick update, sorry it’s been so quiet. I’ve been working on RadarLove a bit (and Email Scheduler, more on that later) and have added some pretty cool things, and am working to include a few more.
Here are things currently done, or close to it:
Added a warning overlay (shows current warnings in the radar area)
Added a “Find Radar Site” piece to the settings. You can now type in your city, state or zip code and it will select the radar for you. (85% done)
Improved the drawing of the images drastically! Radar now supports full transparency, no more white-outs. Images are cleaner, crisp, and I also improved loop drawing times, ie the loop will run faster.
Added a setting to change the Status Text Color — 6 choices, no more hard to read blue (unless you want it).
More Code improvements
Planned additions, not yet implemented (percent done):
GPS integration. Program will pick the radar site based on your gps data. (35% done)
GPS Location icon. Will put an icon on the spot of your GPS location, or the location of the city, state you put in. (25% done)
Visual Sat. overlay. Overlay to show current cloud conditions. (0% done)
Local Forecasts. (0% done)
I hope to get this out within the next week or 2. I will post some screenshots early next week of the new design. We have had over 8,000 downloads of this thing, but only a handful of donations. Come on people, give me some incentives!
Thanks

Email Scheduler Update and Some News
I just wanted to let you know that I have started using nuevasync for my personal push email solution (I do still use the schedule piece of it). Email scheduler will have one more release, the schedule piece of it will be a final version, and imap idle will be considered an unfinished beta. I have worked on the connection piece a bit, but have really hit a dead end. I really want to focus on my other projects (RadarLove, GolfGPS, and a new text message to email program).
I plan on making Email Scheduler open source. Once I get the website updated to handle an open source project, get permission from a friend that helped on the project, clean up the code enough to make it readable, get my license in order, etc, it will be available.
FYI, if you haven’t looked at nuevasync.com, you might want to. It uses the activesync protocol to simulate an exchange server for any imap idle server. So far, it has worked great, and is using the phone the way it was designed to be used. The push email feature is not a free service, but is dirt cheap at $25.00/year.

Update
Just wanted to let everyone know why I have been so quiet lately. My Verizon Titan died a couple of days ago, and I am in the process of replacing it. In other words, I am smartphoneless. Since the emulators mustly suck, I have to use a real device, and since I don’t have one right now….. I am looking at getting the touch pro. I wish the touch pro 2 was out on Verizon, but of course, they are the last to get anything, then they cripple the shit out of it. So for right now, I am just going to get the touch pro, this will allow me to play with the accelerometer! Anyone have some ideas for it?
Also, the Forum is much better now, check it out.
Thanks

EmailScheduler 1.0.2beta
Loads of changes, fixes:
- Added Option to minimize instead of hide
- fixed settings for Port, Debug, and new FormHide not reading back into the options panel
- fixed Connection error endless loop–will try 3 times, then fail
- fixed issue with the system check having multiple checks
- fixed Port number not working
- fixed an issue with SSL not connecting due to unknown cert.
- fixed a non-ssl account not connecting
- Added keep-live to sockets, see next item
- Added connection manager notification–should keep the connection alive for those of you with other programs to shut it down.
- other minor code improvements
One big change is the way I handle seecure sockets, before, I wouldn’t allow accounts that were using unknown, or expired certificates. However, some users that have their own server may not pay for a legit cert, so this program will accept ALL certificates. For most users, this shouldn’t be an issue.
Also, I noticed I was trying no matter what to secure the socket, even if you don’t want that. To make it easy, port 143 is always a NON-secure connection. All other ports, including 993 ARE secure. I could have another option for this, and if you bitch to me enough, maybe I will add it, but again, the majority, this should work great.
I am still not fully happy with how I check to make sure the socket is ok, but I think it is better. Let me know of any other issues.

Beginning of the week, end of the week….
Well, I know I said that I would release the new version of the Email Scheduler at the beginning of the week, what I really ment was at the end of the week! Wow, it took a heck of a lot longer than I expected, but I do feel pretty good about the release.
Email Scheduler Version 1.0.1beta
This is a Ground-up rewrite! Nothing is done the same, so all the old problems are gone. Bring on a whole new batch of issues! All features in the earlier post came true, the only thing I didn’t add was multiple accounts. I did leave it open to add multiple accounts, but I wouldn’t have got this release out today. It still works the same way, except when you setup Imap Idle settings, you can’t start it from there. Just save all your settings until all windows are closed. If Imap Idle is supposed to run, it will run. Once it starts up, the Info window will pop open until you are connected, then it will self hide itself. A tray icon on the today screen will show you the current status, and you can click on it to bring up the status window. One thing to note, use the “hide” button when you are done, not the “X”, the “X” will close it out for good if you are using some sort of task manager. Hide will put it back to the task bar on the today screen.
Here are some screenshots:

I will update the email scheduler page later. Also, I know the forums are slow as hell, I have been working on them, and I think it is better now. Give it one more shot, and if it still sucks ass, I will for go it.
Thanks!

New IMAP IDLE on the way
I’m back! Sorry for the delay, had to take some much needed time away. I have been the last few days working on a new version of the IMAP IDLE. This is almost a complete rewrite, changing the way it works quite a bit. For all of you having issues with it, hold tight, I hope this will fix you up. New things I am working on:
IMAP IDLE piece of EMAIL SCHEDULER:
Windowed–all debug messages will be spit out on the screen–can be hidden, even will start hidden so not to disturb you
Power Requirement–it will tell windows that it needs to run all the time, so no more sleep mode killing the program (win 6.5 users mainly)
task bar Icon–will tell you if it is running, connected, and when you get emails.
Leaner–the debug version I am using right now is using around 488KB of RAM. Much lower than before
Less buggy–I hope
I hope to release a debug version of this early next week. I want to test it out over the weekend, clean up some things, but should have it ready to go early next week.
Questions? Please post in the forum, much easier for me.
Thanks

New Forum!
I added a forum to gudensoft.com. It is still a work in progress, but I think it will help me keep up with your questions. Please from now on, post comments/questions/problems/etc to the forum under the correct project or section. I am sorry, but you will have to register to post, but the spam on forums is just to high not to require it. I will not use any of your information for anything other than you and me communicating period. Anyways, check it out, and lets get started!

RadarLove! Preview .01beta
I am still working on the email scheduler, but I thought I would throw this out there for you to play with. I was never able to find a good online radar, so I wrote this to fit the bill. It works great in a emulator, but sometimes on my phone, I get a network error, so I am wanting feedback from you all as to what works, and what doesn’t. Please post a comment on this post with your feedback, what works, what doesn’t, what you would like to see added, etc. Remember, this is just a preview, it is not fully polished yet. Here are some screenshots:

Play with it, and let me know what you think. You will need to know the radar site nearest you, chances are, it is the biggest city you are closest to. Also, this will only work with US Radar sites, sorry to the rest of you. This is released under my Donateware License.
Read more and get it here!
Enjoy!
