GolfGPS tops 2500 Courses!

The Golf GPS program for windows mobile has over 2500 courses now.  Of course, this does include some fake courses that people have made while trying out the system.  Reguardless, looking though the list, it has grown quite nicely!

On a side note, it looks like I will be leaving the Windows Mobile family for a while.  The new HTC Increadible is looking better and better every day I read about it, and it is coming to Verizon.  I haven’t played with Android all the much yet, but I like the openess of it, and the hardware of the HTC Increadible kills anything out there with Windows on it.  Windows 7 looks promising, but I don’t think I can wait that long.

Android apps are written in Java (mostly at least).  It’s been a few years since I have done anything in Java, but it has a simular feel to C#, I only wish I could code Java in Visual Studio!  Anyways, if I do go the Android route, I will be porting some of the programs to Android, starting with the GolfGPS.  It will have the same features, and maybe some new ones, and of course, the files created with the course mapper will all work with the Android app.  I am a cheapo, so I don’t think I will release it to the Marketplace, unless I can get some major donations to pay for it.  No matter what, I will assure you it will a Free app!  Of course, donations are always accepted!

I’m with you…if Sprint didn’t have the EVO 4G coming out with essentially the same specs as the Incredible (plus 4G), I would be switching to Verizon. However, I’m willing to wait until June and then Android it is. I guess that means you have until June to get that GolfGPS ported :)

It doesn’t work on my Samsung Omnia Lite (Windows Mobile 6.5).

When I try to load a course, an error occurs : “File Format Incorrect or File Missing: Format Exception”.

I try with the course installed with the soft & with a self made course : same error.

    Have a nice day

I think this is due to this program not being global in nature. If you go into your global settings and change list separator to “,” and decimal point to “.” it should work just fine.
