Golf Gps .26beta is released

First off, we are over 50 courses and growing.  Keep it up!  I noticed the courses are not in any good order.  I will work on the PHP to make the list easier to navagate, and will try to add a search.  .26 adds a hazard distance to each hole.  You can use this however you want, or not at all.  All courses made so far WILL still work, and as you play if you want to mark a hazard, either select set hazard position under the file menu, or click and hold on the hazard, and select set hazard position.

I will update the course maker next week to add the hazard to the course maker.  I will have it be an optional item since not every hole will have a hazard.  Not sure how this will look yet, but I will figure it out.

I also added the .NET framework to the website.  You can get it HERE.  If you run into any issues, please let me know.  Without some feedback, I don’t know what needs fixed.

I did have a request for a selection between meters and yards.  I think this is reasonable considering the number of courses not in the US.  I will work on this and see what the best way to handle it will be, and include it in a future release.  What else would you like to see?

Get the Newest Version Here!

Thanks!!!

    Thanks, Gudy,
Installed and working fine on HTC Mogul. I made a course and loaded it. Everything is good except hazard has huge number. Maybe that is to 0 North, 0 West.
Now, if I could figure out how to lock all buttons except mouse (to select hole) while keeping your program in view, I could put the phone in my pocket.

I noticed that too. I’ll get it fixed up, simple fix. I use S2U2 to lock my keys, easy to use, and the gps program fires right back up once you unlock. google it if interested, great program. I too have the mogul, great phone!

    Gudy,
Before seeing your response, I Googled for a lock program and found Devicelock 1.2. This appears to do the trick. I can lock keys and blank screen with one button, then push power button and Golf GPS is back. I am testing it now. I’ll get to test it on the course tomorrow. I’ll research S2U2.
    thanks again,
    Jim

Hey I loaded this program on my palm and it looks exactly like this screen, http://gudensoft.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/screenshot26.jpg << I use telenav.

Brian, do you have a problem, or are you saying it works on palm? Is it palm os, or windows mobile on a palm device?

    Thanks

    Hi Gudy,
Like what you did and I support the yards/meters selection.
One comment: I’m getting the distance displayed with an accuracy of 0.01 yard (e.g. 123.34). Since the accuracy of the GPS positioning is only within say 5 yards under good conditions, this info is not only superfluous, but also a bit misleading. I would suggest to round off to full meters/yards; gives you more real estate on the screen and with my handicap I cannot shoot within .01 yard accuracy anyway :-) .
    Thanks and regards,
    Hans (from the Netherlands)

it’s loaded on palm. It is the windows mobile OS. It doesn’t show any distances in a number figure. I have my GPS on and everything. is there a way I can adjust the program to use the same com port as my gps? that is the only thing I can think of, maybe it’s just not communicating with the gps

Hans–You know I thought about that too, and you’re right, I think I will change that for the next realease. I think I also have the meters worked out, but want to add a registry entry so it will stay the same each run.

Brian–Can you give me the exact device, OS, and GPS unit models/versions? Also, does it work with other gps software, Google Maps for example. Also, under settings, connections, GPS make sure under the access tab that “Manage GPS automatically is selected.

Great program. I am using now starcaddy which shows the course and all the hazards. However, for courses not loaded in that program it is great to count on this software.

I have a question. How do you edit the course once has been uploaded?

  10. mgudenka - October 13th, 2008

You can only edit it in the program as of right now. I hope later this week to have some time to work on the course maker, and allow courses to be opened from it, and edited. I have some other things I want to add too.

Palm Treo 750, windows mobile 5 os. I use telenav for the gps program. That’s what comes with at&t. I don’t know the hardware specs for the gps. email me and I’ll give you some contact info if it would help expedite this situation
